How Does Botox Work?
A combination of factors can cause facial lines. It’s not just about the cellular changes that may occur, or reduction of collagen, or damage caused by free radicals from the sun and the environment.
Repeated muscle contractions from frowning, squinting, or raising eyebrows cause skin to furrow and fold, gradually resulting in the formation of facial lines. BOTOX® Cosmetic works beneath the surface and temporarily reduces the underlying muscle activity that causes moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines in adults – to help them look visibly smoother.
Is Botox different from dysport?
Many medical professionals will tell you that choosing botox or dysport, may be similar to choosing pepsi or coke, it comes down to a personal preference.
Both Dysport and Botox are FDA approved for treating the area between your eyebrows or glabella, the lines that extend upward or vertically toward the forehead.
These wrinkles are known as dynamic wrinkles and both Botox and Dysport block signals from nerves to the muscles that cause frown lines, relaxing them and preventing the muscles from creating more wrinkles.
Both treatments are not effective on static wrinkles, which are fine lines and wrinkles caused by sagging skin, and include lines in the cheeks, jowl and neck areas.
